Hello all! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve
written a blog post. I also have some promises to fulfill and I will get to them. I’ve kind of been on hiatus because, as you all know, life happens. Since I’ve been gone I have gone through some struggles and have had some experiences that I would like to share with you all.
If you’ve read my last blog post you know I was trying to start on a more healthy lifestyle and so I began looking at my habits and noticed that I was eating out a lot again, I was eating more than I should, and I wasn’t working out enough. I started looking for all types of ways that would help me to stay focused on losing weight and such and I found a fitness group on Facebook that was started by Ezekiel of P4CM (Passion 4 Christ Movement) and I thought it would be a great way to be held accountable during this journey. Well it started out great at first but things slowly started to shift. Some people were really serious about being physically healthy and they helped others to be more health conscious but that was the problem. I joined thinking it was going to be less focused on how we look and more about how we as Christians should view our health. I was mistaken. Soon, I started to see pictures of people flexing and comparing themselves to others and coveting basically. Some would think I may be being to “legalistic” but I thought some people were being vain and shallow. Don’t get me wrong I thought it was great having support during the process but I was hoping it was going to be a little different. On top of it all I had to look at the fact that I was starting to focus more on social media and I definitely had to cut that off for a while.
Since then I have lost about 10 lbs but I don’t want to focus so much on weight loss. I’d rather be more focused on my overall health and that includes my spiritual health. I have drifted so far from God these past few months and I know its because I have had plenty of distractions. I startedto draw away and lose trust in Him and so I began to reevaluate my life. As a Christian all my faith should rest in the Cross but lately I’ve questioned my faith. I want every Christian to know that when or if you go through a period in your walk with Christ when you begin to doubt please don’t feel like its all over for you. I had to realize that. I discovered that fasting is essential to our walk and I find my self doing it not just ftom food but also from everything else that causes me to lose focus on God. Fasting and prayer and reading definitely helps you to regain trust and remain assured. Also letting go helps a lot too. Don’t hold on to things because it will only cause you to feel like you have control and you really dont and this causes you to have less trust in the Lord because things aren’t going your way. For me it was not feeling stable financially and not being able to find work. It tore me apart but God reassures me every day that this isn’t something that I should focus on and that he will always work everything out for my good (Rom 8:28).
I still have struggles and I due fall into doubt sometimes but I don’t stay there. Now I pick my head up and look to the heavens and remember God is in control. When it comes to my health I’m also not in control but I can practice healthy living not for myself but for the kingdom. Food is not my master, God is and I refuse to be lazy or gluttonous. Two sins that lead to obesity. So through all that I’ve been through I know now that I want to be all trusting in God no matter what and I want to let go more and Give everything to God and remember that He is in control. I want for my spiritual health to be of the most importance and for the Gospel to reign over all and be at the center of everything I do.
Thank you to everyone who follows my blog, I really appreciate it and I hope that no matter what you all are going through you remember the Cross and that it is there ftom which grace and mercy abounds. God is with you all and He is in control so please let go.
Grace and peace to you.
This is a topic that I feel is important. How should we as Christians view diet (what we eat) and exercise and what is it’s connection to us spiritually and bodily? Check out this video featuring Pastor John Piper and RW Glen as they discuss how your eating, sleeping, and exercise affect you spiritually.
So I have decided to start a new blog called Modestly Be(you)tiful and its mostly geared towards women but I think young people and men may find it interesting and engaging also. Men are definitely encouraged to visit my blog even though a lot of the posts will be directed towards women. I think it will give men some good insight into the lives of women and also through my posts God may show you something. I think its also a chance for me to reach those who maybe have not yet heard the Gospel before even though this blog does that I think my new blog will target a new group of people and give them a chance to partake in conversation and read about things that they may relate to especially from woman to woman. We all go through a lot of the same things but sometimes there isn’t a place for you to go to or person you can go to and talk to about things that may be happening in your life and God has given me this idea to just reach out to those who may be in need of encouragement and need to be poured into.
I post on my blog every Monday, Tuesday and Friday and each day has a different theme. Modest Beauty Mondays are geared towards women. I will touch on things that many Christian women may be dealing with or uplifting things that are meant to lead women back to the Gospel and encourage them. Table Talk Tuesdays are for current news and random topics that I feel like addressing that deal with things pertaining to the faith. I don’t have a name for Fridays yet but it will come to me. Let me know if you have any ideas for that. I think Fridays will be for interviews that I might have conducted, a featured poet of the week, or maybe just some testimonies I have heard and want to share. So please check out the new blog and I want it to be very interactive so comment and follow and lets talk ladies (and gents). So please CLICK HERE to visit my new blog Modestly Be(You)tiful.
Side note to LADIES ONLY : Write me and let me know what you would like me to write about. What things are pressing to you as a women that you would like to have a discussion about with your fellow sisters in Christ. Comment below and let me know.
Grace and peace everyone.
Hello and grace and peace to you all. So one thing that most people don’t know is that I have a love for the arts and I mean all art from performing to visual arts. And recently I have been getting into nail art. Now I know I advocate for modesty and I know all is vanity but it is an art for m it just doesn’t include the paper. God made everything on this earth for his glory and lately I’ve been struggling with the question of whether or not my interest in nail art can some being glory to God. Then I got to thinking and realized that we can all have hobbies and even have jobs that are centered in our very interest but we aren’t to be engrossed in them to the point of taking our focus off of God. And also remembering that there are ways in which we can bring God and the gospel to the center of what we do. It can turn into a way to engage people and show them who you are in Christ. How? Be creative but stay true.
I recently got an idea to go to homeless shelters and do women and young girls’ nails and give them grooming products which would help the women especially to look well groomed maybe for job interviews. In doing that I can also hold bible studies while there and talk about my testimony which would be relatable considering other women and young girls might have gone through the same things and it could show them that through Christ they too can be delivered. Through that I could also talk about why modesty is important in the daily life of women and show them scriptures such as 1 Peter 3:3 which talks about hat modesty is and then show them how to apply it in their own lives.
So ladies I would like to know if you would like to see a new series on my blog showing some nice neat sophisticated and tasteful nail designs with tutorials included so that you can achieve the designs yourselves. I know some of you might be the nail salon goers but I can show you some DIY ways to achieve that same salon polished look. Please comment or like if you would like that idea. who knows there could be a few giveaways so please let me know.
Grace and peace ladies. God Bless:-)

Reading Proverbs 28:13 this morning has allowed me to see that hiding your issues doesn’t help us or anyone else. God can’t receive glory from your hidden sins but he can receive glory when you confess them and give your testimony. Giving your testimony will allow others who may be struggling with similar troubles and sin to come forth to God and confess and hopefully God brings them to repentence. God uses us in his own way sometimes to bring others to Him and to help them see God in his fullness. And being unashamed of the Gospel (Rom 1:16) is one way in which we as Christians hone our courage that Christ gives us to openly speak about our deliverance from sin and share personal struggles He brought us out of. We obtained mercy and grace through the Cross. Jesus took the wrath of God, came down off his thrown on the right hand of God and paid the price we as sinners should have paid. He said it is finished therefore we are free from our sins. So why should we hide the sin we fall into. It will only make us fall deeper into it and why should we dwell in our troubles when our Heavenly Father is there for us to lay our burdens down to. We are all weak and He is strong. We are small and He is big and we are all wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked but thats why we need Jesus. So we should know that we aren’t perfect BUT perfection is what we are looking forward to in our heavenly home with Christ our Lord. Don’t forget you are forgiven. Confess your transgressions don’t hold onto them. He loves you and will never forsake you. In jesus there is healing for the broken and mercy in the Fathers hands.
Grace and peace to you all.
Scripture of the day: Proverbs 28:13 “Whoever conceals his trangressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them shall obtain mercy.”
Lately I have been doing a tiny bit of online shopping and by the way I am not a frequent shopper but lately I have been quietly browing just see what I like. When I was younger my style was very different and I was just trying to “fit in”. But now I have been growing and maturing not only in my faith but also professionally and just in general. I am no longer a teenager and I don’t want to dress like one. I have found lately that a lot of women my age (20) and older are starting to dress a bit trashy for lack of better terms. I think as we grow and mature our style of dress should too. I feel sometimes you can tell a lot about a person by the way they dress. Now this is not to say that I go around passing judgement on other people based on how they are dressed. I simply look at those who draw a lot of attention to themselves by wearing revealing, short, unbecoming, extra baggy, or extra tight clothing. This goes for boys too. I think the whole wear your pants below your waist thing is getting out of hand. I’m sure that most boys by their jeans about 2 sizes to big just so they can sag a bit which is kind of disgusting because everyone can see your behind. Anyways my point is simply that as adults we should carry ourselves in a respectable mature manner and that includes how we dress. I just recently got a job at an elementary school as a lunch room and recess monitor and being that I am going to be around kids and other working professionals I think its necessary to dress appropriately and tastefully. I don’t want to wear anything tight or revealing because young children are impressionable. I definitely do not want the girls especially to go home and say “mommy I wanna dress in clothes like Ms. Tisha!” when all of my clothing is inappropriate. I also think as Christians we have to be careful not to wear anything that sends anyone the wrong message. If I see a Christian young woman wearing a short tight skirt with low cut top and a whole lot of makeup I would assume that she is highly confused and that she needs more guidance but others might think something a whole lot worse. Now I am not saying you should dress like your grandma but we should at least be covered up in clothing that is not too tight or way to big or too short. So I looked at a few things recently that a lot of Christian young women would like.
I often shop at forever21+ and being that I am plus size its hard to find clothing stores that sell nice clothing for plus size women. But Forever21+ is pretty good. This shirt is only $10 and it is not too low cut and it has a nice message on it. Its long enough and its loose enough and I think it would be nice to wear casually but its very classy and chic. I wouldn’t recommend everything on this site but I do think you can look for yourself to see what you like.
This is a sweat shirt from JCLU Forever which is an online Christian clothing store for women. A lot of the messages on the shirts and T-shirts are based on scriptures from the bible. I totally recommend this site. The clothing is priced anywhere from about $18 -$30 with a shipping cost of about $5 and I actually just ordered a sweat shirt from there and I cannot wait to get it! The clothing is definitely laid back and cool I know not everyone is into the previous style so this is a nice alternative. To see more clothing from their site you can just CLICK HERE.
Other items that are nice are blazers which I like a lot and dresses. Once again dresses and should be a good length I would say about no more than 3 to 4 in above the knee and they shouldn’t be too tight. Shorts can also be nice during this season if worn with tights or stockings. Shorts should be pretty loose and not too short.
These are a couple of outfit ideas. I think these are very nice and you can look nice without showing a bunch of skin or wearing skin tight clothing. I put these outfits together using polyvore its a cool site you can use to put outfits together. If you want to try any one of these looks check out sites and stores like Forever21 , JCLU , Old Navy, TJMaxx, Marshalls, or Burlington Coat Factory and H&M. These stores carry a bunch of other types of clothing but my advice to you is try everything on and make sure its not too tight or too short and be mindful of wearing anything that might draw any unwanted attention.
Thanks for reading and God Bless!
